And So It Begins

Well today was the first official day of getting started on our house. Everything started out smoothly and the kids were entertained for hours watching the crew dig the hole. We were so excited that people were here getting things going that the kids and I decided to make to make the three guys a treat to show our appreciation. So we whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies and some strawberry lemonade. When we saw that they had stopped, we hurried and took out our goodies. The guys were so excited to get a treat, but had some bad news to tell us. The reason they had stopped was because the excavator had broke. GREAT! But, hey, that's alright. It's not that big of a deal. We can't start doing anything else on the house until probably the beginning of not next week but the following week anyway. So it really isn't a problem for us. What I'm worried about, however, is that this is just a preview of how the rest of our house-building experience is going to be! Let's hope not, but I guess we'll see!!

Our little patch of real grass is now gone. = (

The excavator arrives!

Here is Brett and the kids digging a new ditch.

The crew is here scraping where they will dig.

Now they are digging where the storage room will be in the basement with the master suite above.

Here they are digging out the one of the spare bedrooms in the basement and the formal living room will be above.
Now here they have dug everything but the gathering room on the main level and the kids' bedrooms both in the basement and above as well.
